the artist

I am based out of Santa Fe, NM and started my work with ceramics during college in Flagstaff, AZ. On a whim, I took a ceramics class and quickly fell in love with clay because it made me feel like I could make anything I could possibly dream of. I had an amazing professor who inspired me and made me feel like it was possible to have a career in ceramics, even though I was already two years into a science degree. After taking a gap semester (during which I took another ceramics class at a local community college), I decided to continue with my degree in science and, as a compromise, take every single ceramics class I could possibly squeeze in. Some of the classes involved wood firing and glaze chemistry. After graduating, I quickly found a clay community in Los Alamos and got involved in teaching, glaze making, and firing my own work for the first time. One day, I hope to have my own small brick-and-mortar where I can teach the thing I love most and display a small gallery of my work.

As a functional ceramic artist, I create pieces that are interacted with on a daily basis: the mugs you drink your morning coffee from, the bowl you eat soup from which you eat when you're sick. The intention is that these pieces will bring comfort and warmth to their owners. While creating them, I think about who the vessels are for and what purpose they will serve.

In a busy, overstimulated world, the process of creating allows me to hit pause, and reach a mental state of absorptive rest. I hope my pieces convey that same sense of peace to you and maybe even bring some of that into your life.

Artistic Process

I am inspired by my natural surroundings and feel like time stops when I am creating my work. I am always experimenting and exploring new designs and concepts but find myself continually drawn to florals and natural patterns such as leaves and flowers. I love the meticulous process of creating multi step designs that get more beautiful with each iteration

Functional ware

I use food safe clay and glazes so all of my dishware is microwave and dishwasher safe.
